The world premiere of the new Porsche concept car, the Mission X, took place at the Southern Housing Museum. This event holds special significance as it coincides with the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Porsche brand. The design of Porsche vehicles is my responsibility, and it is truly a dream job. Designing a concept car like the Mission X is particularly exciting as it allows for greater creative freedom and fewer limitations. The Mission X joins the prestigious lineage of Porsche super sports cars, including the Carrera GT and the 918 Spider. As a super sports car, the Mission X offers a tantalizing glimpse into the potential future of Porsche’s automotive innovation and design.
Pushing the Boundaries of Design
The Mission X represents a further evolution of our design DNA, which is rooted in our design principles. This concept car embodies those principles, and we are showcasing them here. For instance, the front of the Mission X features a significant light signature with four elements that pay homage to the vertical alignment of old Porsche racing cars. This layout might be surprising, but it draws inspiration from our heritage. The same approach is evident in the tail lamps, where we present a possible future development of our iconic light band seen on all our production cars. Moving to the interior, we have adhered to our driver-focused principles. As our motto suggests, we believe that the last car to have a steering wheel will most likely be a Porsche. Therefore, the interior is meticulously designed, ensuring that all necessary buttons and controls are thoughtfully arranged around the driver. This setup guarantees an immersive and highly emotional driving experience.
